ACTION ALERT - Energy

November 25, 2009

SUMMARY

The EPA has proposed that it can regulate greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act.  The comment period for its regulation of greenhouse emissions of cars and light trucks ends this Friday and we need to let them know what we think of this power grab.  Below is (1) a sample letter that you can e-mail directly to the EPA at a-and-r-Docket@epa.gov, (2) information on other ways to submit, and (3) links to further information on this issue.

1. SAMPLE EMAIL/FAX
Attn: Docket ID No. EPA-HQ-OAR-2009-0472

RE: Proposed Rulemaking to Establish Light-Duty Vehicle Greenhouse Gas Emission Standards and Corporate Average Fuel Economy Standards

I value the safety of my family and your proposed regulations would endanger them because it would effectively mandate that vehicles be less safe.

Also, with unemployment over 10%, this is no time to create new, costly, and unnecessary regulations.

Over 30,000 American scientists are skeptical of UN IPCC's CO2 alarmism (see petitionproject.org) that is the basis for your proposed regulations.  The recently released East Anglia e-mails confirm that scientists are right to be skeptical.

Sincerely,
(your name and address)

2. HOW TO SUBMIT
You can submit your comments by e-mail to a-and-r-Docket@epa.gov, by fax to (202) 566-1741, or by snail mail to:

ACTION ALERT - Energy

Sen. Boxer (D-CA) is trying to move her cap-and-tax energy-rationing bill (S 1721) out of her committee this week without even waiting for the EPA to complete its cost analysis.  Please ask Sen. Boxer (contact info and e-mail form) and any other member on her Environment Committee to slow down or, better yet, stop.

The House has already passed its version of the bill (HR 2454).  We have to stop it in the Senate.

For background information and a sample letter, see our earlier action alert.

ACTION ALERT - Energy

The Senate Energy Committee will hold hearings this Wednesday on "the allocation of greenhouse gas emission allowances."  We should let the committee (202 224-4971 or e-mail) or any of the senators on the committee (list here) know we think of cap-and-tax and the damage it will do to the economy.

ACTION ALERT - Energy

September 29, 2009

SUMMARY

Possibly as soon as tomorrow, Sen. Boxer, chair of the Environment Committee, will introduce cap and trade legislation. We need to let her know what we think of that.

SAMPLE EMAIL/FAX
-----
Dear Senator Boxer,

Please oppose all cap-and-trade legislation.

The cost of this legislation to our economy in higher taxes, lost jobs as factories move overseas, and general economic uncertainty is incalculable. Even if warming were to happen, economists say that there are far more cost effective ways of dealing with it. Further, although Al Gore and the UN may believe global warming is real, thousands of genuine scientists are skeptical, and to inflict damage to our economy merely on the basis on an unproven theory would be extraordinarily irresponsible.

Also, residents of AK, AZ, IN, and ME should contact their Republican senators Murkowski, McCain, Lugar, and Snowe, all of whom are rumored to be possible votes for cap-and-tax.

-----------------------------

Senate Liberals' "Cap and Tax" bill is worse than the House's. I guess it's time for another round of Tea Parties to save the country from these villains, vampires and vipers who are working hard to destroy the enterprise, economy and the prosperity of America...and by extension, American Freedom.

Instead of "Senators" can we just call them State-Funded National Progressive Community Organizers? (Grabbing as much power and money as possible, at the expense of the people and community they claim to be "protecting".)

ACORN on steroids.
