Another Mad Hatter

Nice to know our governor has his ear on the pulse of the nation. And science.

Arnold Schwarzenegger unveils dramatic climate change map which shows flooded San Francisco of the future.
The map, named CalAdapt, which was revealed at a press conference on Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay by Mr Schwarzenegger and Google CEO Eric Schmidt, was created as part of a plan for the state to adapt to global warming.

'Within a century, Treasure Island, this place where we are right now, could be totally under water,' the governor said. 'It is technology in the end that will save us.'

Yeah....okay.

Somebody, give that man access to the internet.

Letters, FAXES, email, phone calls. You know the drill.

California to Withhold a Bigger Chunk of Paychecks!

Yes...the geniuses who run the State have a brilliant idea:

Starting Sunday, cash-strapped California will dig deeper into the pocketbooks of wage earners -- holding back 10% more than it already does in state income taxes just as the biggest shopping season of the year kicks into gear.

Technically, it's not a tax increase, even though it may feel like one when your next paycheck arrives. As part of a bundle of budget patches adopted in the summer, the state is taking more money now in withholding, even though workers' annual tax bills won't change.

Think of it as a forced, interest-free loan: You'll be repaid any extra withholding in April. Those who would receive a refund anyway will receive a larger one, and those who owe taxes will owe less.

However, there is a way to avoid it:

Savvy taxpayers can get around the state's maneuver by increasing the number of personal withholding allowances they claim on their employer tax forms, said Brenda Voet, a spokeswoman for the state's Franchise Tax Board.

"People can get out of this," she said, noting that most people would have to change their allowances through their employers. California's budget leaders are banking on the hope that most won't.

Probably, most won't do it, however...and it's going to impact businesses just when they need all the help they can get.

The increase is coming at a bad time for store owners, many of whom depend on the holiday shopping season to keep their businesses alive.

"I don't think there's any question it's going to impact consumers' spending," said Bill Dombrowski, president of the California Retailers Assn. "Any time you reduce people's disposable income, there's going to be a negative effect on the retail sector."
Who says Democrats and RINOs hate business, prosperity, capitalism, and the middle class?? Who says gubmint is full of pinheads? Who says bureaucrats don't understand the free market, and will cut off their children's fingers before they'll cut spending someone else's money?

Whoever says it is a wise observer of the state of the State of California and the morons who run it.

We're ALL Mad Here!

Jon Coupal writes on Howard Jaravis Taxpayers Association website:

Voters knew exactly what they were doing when they approved term limits. They wanted to put an end to having an imperial state government dominated for decades by the same handful of legislative leaders who had been elected by a fraction of California voters. They wanted to change a system in which the status of its leaders more closely resembled a monarchy than a representative democracy.

...More unsettling is the disdain for the voters' judgment shown by our sitting California Chief Justice Ron George. Recently, George traveled to Massachusetts to tell the American Academy of Arts and Sciences that the initiative process is responsible for California's "dysfunctional state government." He warned of the "dangers of direct democracy" and said "California's lawmakers, and the state itself, have been placed in a fiscal straitjacket by a steep two-thirds vote imposed at the ballot box for raising taxes."

California Needs You!

Gov. Schwarzenegger is being pressured more from all sides to sign Senate Bill 572.

SB 572 would pressure every California public school to have an official Harvey Milk Day promoting the homosexual, bisexual, and transsexual agenda to children as young as kindergarten. This legislation is written so broadly that it could allow gay-pride parades on campus, cross-dressing, and homosexual marriage dramas, etc. It's all going to come down to how much pressure California's governor feels. Last year the Democrat-controlled Legislature passed Harvey Milk Gay Day, but Schwarzenegger vetoed it.

This year, Schwarzenegger is being lobbied more heavily by homosexual activists. Sean Penn, who played Harvey Milk on the big screen, and Milk's homosexual activist nephew, have both lobbied Schwarzenegger to ask him to sign SB 572. This year there are four more Democrats in the Assembly voting for Harvey Milk Gay Day. And for the first time Republican Senator Abel Maldonado is supporting this anti-traditional family value bill.

This call will only take about 30 seconds to complete.

Call Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger at 916-445-2841. Listen to the recorded message and press in the following order:

1 (English)

2 (legislation)

1 (SB 572)

2 (against)
