Dear Fellow American,
Speaker Pelosi and President Obama are pushing legislation that will force millions of families out of their health care plans and into a costly, lower-quality, government-run system - and they want a vote on it in a matter of weeks.
We need to stop them right here, right now. Here's how you can help: Please write at least one "letter to the editor" to your local newspaper or contact your Congressman and explain - in your own words - why you oppose government-run health care.
Here are three simple facts to keep in mind about the Democrats' government takeover:
1) Health care costs will skyrocket. Make no mistake, a government-run system will cost more than $1 trillion and Washington will have to keep raising taxes, rationing care, and limiting your choices in doctors and treatments to keep up.2) Millions of jobs will be lost. A massive small business tax and crippling penalties will force small businesses to shed jobs or close their doors.3) Millions of Americans will lose their current coverage. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates up to 20 million Americans would remain uninsured, even after spending more than $1 trillion.
Republicans have a real health care solution that will lower health care costs, expand access to high-quality care, and foster new innovations that will save lives - without raising taxes or creating a government "option."Our plan will make it easier for small businesses to provide affordable coverage, and end the junk lawsuits and wasteful spending that drive up costs. Expect an email early next week from Congressman Price that explains our plan in more detail. We can bring down the cost of health care - but first we need to stop Speaker Pelosi and President Obama's government takeover. So please write an op-ed to your local newspaper and call your Congressman today. I hope I can count on your helpSigned,John BoehnerHouse Republican Leader
I'd just copy and paste the three main points, and send them to the newspaper with a short intro. Same for your rep.
