The Truth Always Comes Out...

From Al Sharpton....

"First of all, then we have to say the American public overwhelmingly voted for socialism when they elected President Obama."

So much for all the endless arguments from "Liberals" that the 'Bamster isn't a Socialist.

This is going to be embarrassing...

Jackie Speier Townhall in Montara

Several of us went to Speier's "Townhall" today (Sunday, August)

I want to particularly thank Camele, Janey, Jim (sorry we didn't say good-bye!) Sean, Pete, Priscilla, Nunzio (forgive me if I missed anyone) who showed up to support our side.

Happily, we met several other great people who agreed with us, and have signed up with "We The People".

We arrived at about 10:30 for an 11:00 meeting (I was lucky enough to get one of the last parking places in the school parking lot.)

As we walked in, there were tables and other Jackie/Obama supporters signing up people and handing out pre-printed signs and stickers in support of government run health care.

There was a virtual sea of supporters...so much so that all the chairs in the school were used and still a LOT of people were left standing. Priscilla and I, who found seats, saw a few people in the back of the crowd, standing with one or two signs opposed, so so I dragged her to them, and ended up standing for the whole meeting. (Sorry, Priscilla).

I was surprised at the turnout until we talked to a man who said there was a huge organized union phone tree that sent out the word to come to the meeting...to make sure to drown out us opponents.

Though we were vastly outnumbered, I have to admit, several of the questioners were not exactly cheerleaders for Obamacare, and one or two were determinedly against it.

We stood for almost 2 hours, holding our signs, listening to the mostly vapid nonsense spewed by Speier who is clearly not conversant with the free market, basic economics or the Constitution.

Or the truth in several cases.

No surprise there, of course. But it's one thing to know it, and another to have to listen to it that long at one time!

(I did love her white jacket, though. Very chic. I want one.)

There were two interesting incidents that are worth sharing.

1) A black LeRouche supporter showed up, holding a big sign with that picture of Obama with a "Hitler" mustache. He came to the back of the group to stand among us until a couple of us sort of shooed him away. There were lots of cameras and that's just not something we need associated with us. He and his companion soon found a suitable place in the empty front of the building, at an abandoned "Jackie" table...and spent the meeting sitting alone out there with their silly sign.

2) A particularly nasty little-old-lady, who apparently decided it was her job to snottily scold us every time we reacted to a statement or question or commented in a way she didn't approve of, was finally told by one of us that we have the right to speak as we see fit.

There were two policemen standing very close by, and the white-haired harridan declared that'd she'd shut us up, and marched over to them to demand they tell us to stop talking.

They declined to do so.

She was not a happy camper.

And the degenerate language that came out of her prim little mouth after that...rather surprised us all. Of course, she never realized that she was more entertaining to us than otherwise. Her vitriol took its toll on her, leaving us quite unscathed.

Poor old thing.

The Lesson: Always retain a sense of humor, even while they're shooting at you. That kind of bitterness is so unattractive. Pinches you up even more than age does.

So...while we suffered for the cause —did I mention it was OUTSIDE in Montara...on the coast—in summer....COLD. We came away having made new friends, and a new appreciation of "Union Organizing", and a renewed commitment to beat them at their own game.

Power to "We The People"!

Patriots—and a Peabrain

Here are some pictures of the protest in San Jose yesterday at Bab's book signing.

And here is a picture of a woman who, according to the report, was going around taking pictures of protesters, saying that she was going to put them on the internet "to show everybody what idiots you are".

I thought she deserved special individual attention:

I don't think she's entirely clear on the concept. (Grey-haired and still clueless.)

"Oh please, ma'am, PLEASE don't post our pictures on the internet so everyone can see even more real Americans protesting this Obama abomination from Coast to Coast."

("Oh, PLEASE don't throw me in that briar patch, cries Br'er Rabbit!")

The Truth

Jan sent in this video. You should watch it.

ACTION:

Let's get on the phone and barrage Jackie Speier's office with complaints that she is not having a real townhall meeting...that she is hiding behind a "producer" and cherry-picking "phone screener" rather than actually listening to what here constituents have to say about Obamacare.

Her Telephone Townhall Meeting is next Tuesday night. Let's burn up the phones and faxes.

Jackie Speier - District Office
400 S. El Camino Real, Suite 750
San Mateo, CA 94402

Post Card Campaign - To Our "Representatives"

I've order 100 of these, and will be sending them to various and sundry representatives on a regular basis.

If anyone wants the artwork to get them printed, let me know. The total file size of the two PDFs (front & back) is about 1M, so they'll go through most email programs.

I ordered them from Overnight Prints online.

I can't yet vouch for them, as I have not received the post cards, but they seem okay—and until August 3....sale...100 cards was less that $25.00 shipping & tax included.

I know it's hard to read, so....here's the text in close up:

Thanks, especially to readers on my personal blog for their suggestions, links and ideas.

My Letter to the Editor

Feel free to copy and paste.

wtp
Dear Editor:

Just in case anybody is under the misapprehension that government healthcare will be good for him or for the country, allow me to point out just three facts that are generally accepted by many Democrats and the Congressional Budget Office:

1) Health care costs will skyrocket. Make no mistake, a government-run system will cost more than $1 trillion and Washington will have to keep raising taxes, rationing care, and limiting your choices in doctors and treatments to keep up.

2) Millions of jobs will be lost. A massive small business tax and crippling penalties will force small businesses to shed jobs or close their doors.

3) Millions of Americans will lose their current coverage. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates up to 20 million Americans would remain uninsured, even after spending more than $1 trillion.

Contact your representative, and tell him THIS is not the answer to our healthcare problems. And do it NOW. There’s not much time.

Of course...

If you want healthcare run like the Veteran’s Administration or the DMV;
If you want long delays, rationed care, limited options, fewer new drugs and innovative procedures;
If you want millions of small businesses hurt or ruined, and thus even more massive unemployment;
If you want government forced destruction of your current health insurance...

...don’t do anything at all.

Signed, etc. etc.

Letter from John Boehner on ØbamaCare

Here is an email I received from John Boehner, House Republican Leader:

Dear Fellow American,

Speaker Pelosi and President Obama are pushing legislation that will force millions of families out of their health care plans and into a costly, lower-quality, government-run system - and they want a vote on it in a matter of weeks.

We need to stop them right here, right now. Here's how you can help: Please write at least one "letter to the editor" to your local newspaper or contact your Congressman and explain - in your own words - why you oppose government-run health care.

Here are three simple facts to keep in mind about the Democrats' government takeover:

1) Health care costs will skyrocket. Make no mistake, a government-run system will cost more than $1 trillion and Washington will have to keep raising taxes, rationing care, and limiting your choices in doctors and treatments to keep up.

2) Millions of jobs will be lost. A massive small business tax and crippling penalties will force small businesses to shed jobs or close their doors.

3) Millions of Americans will lose their current coverage. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates up to 20 million Americans would remain uninsured, even after spending more than $1 trillion.

Republicans have a real health care solution that will lower health care costs, expand access to high-quality care, and foster new innovations that will save lives - without raising taxes or creating a government "option."

Our plan will make it easier for small businesses to provide affordable coverage, and end the junk lawsuits and wasteful spending that drive up costs. Expect an email early next week from Congressman Price that explains our plan in more detail.

We can bring down the cost of health care - but first we need to stop Speaker Pelosi and President Obama's government takeover. So please write an op-ed to your local newspaper and call your Congressman today. I hope I can count on your help

Signed,
John Boehner
House Republican Leader

I'd just copy and paste the three main points, and send them to the newspaper with a short intro. Same for your rep.

Action Alert - ØBAMACARE

You can sign the Grassfire petition against ØbamaCare here. Doesn't take long. Doesn't cost anything.

Take a minute.

Chart of ØbamaCare

UPDATE: My friend Robert advises that I make clear that this graphic is not a 'cartoon' making fun of Øbamacare. It is not! This is a legitimate representation of what the bill in Congress actually entails. Though, considering how absurd it is, one could hardly be blamed for thinking otherwise. wtp

This is what the House Health Care Bill would look like if implemented.
Seriously, what is the MATTER with these people?
