Defunding ACORN Means Defunding SEIU

Rep Mark Kirk points out that SEIU is ACORN and ACORN is SEIU.

If we want to defund the criminals of ACORN, we have to defund SEIU or the whole enterprise is pointless.

Time to threaten our representatives—again.

It's becoming a full-time job.

Why We Fight

In case anyone needs a reminder of what we're fighting for, please check out this story, in which a mother in Michigan is getting hassled by the Imperial State because she watches neighbor kids between the time their parents go to work and the kids have to go to school.

The best part is the reaction of the STATE. The Governor asked the Director of the "Human Control"...er..."Human SERVICES", to intervene.
On Tuesday, agency Director Ismael Ahmed said good neighbors should be allowed to help each other ensure their children are safe. Gov. Jennifer Granholm instructed Ahmed to work with the state Legislature to change the law, he said.
So, citizens of the United States of America ought to be PERMITTED to watch each others' kids at home in their neighborhood - By. The. State. - so says the kind and compassionate and reasonable apparatchik.

Aren't we lucky that the STATE is so benevolent?

ACTION ALERT - Energy

September 29, 2009

SUMMARY

Possibly as soon as tomorrow, Sen. Boxer, chair of the Environment Committee, will introduce cap and trade legislation. We need to let her know what we think of that.

SAMPLE EMAIL/FAX
-----
Dear Senator Boxer,

Please oppose all cap-and-trade legislation.

The cost of this legislation to our economy in higher taxes, lost jobs as factories move overseas, and general economic uncertainty is incalculable. Even if warming were to happen, economists say that there are far more cost effective ways of dealing with it. Further, although Al Gore and the UN may believe global warming is real, thousands of genuine scientists are skeptical, and to inflict damage to our economy merely on the basis on an unproven theory would be extraordinarily irresponsible.

(Sign)

Also, residents of AK, AZ, IN, and ME should contact their Republican senators Murkowski, McCain, Lugar, and Snowe, all of whom are rumored to be possible votes for cap-and-tax.

Senate Liberals' "Cap and Tax" bill is worse than the House's. I guess it's time for another round of Tea Parties to save the country from these villains, vampires and vipers who are working hard to destroy the enterprise, economy and the prosperity of America...and by extension, American Freedom.

Instead of "Senators" can we just call them State-Funded National Progressive Community Organizers? (Grabbing as much power and money as possible, at the expense of the people and community they claim to be "protecting".)

ACORN on steroids.

Leadership Meeting

Our meeting was an outstanding success. Many more people attended than were expected (which is always a delightful surprise!)

We identified several critical issues: Health Care, Energy/Cap & Trade, Amnesty, the 2nd Amendment...

...some long-term issues like Education, and others that relate to the growth and effectiveness of our group: communication, liaison with other Patriot groups, publicity and recruitment.

We'll have all the details on Thursday. See you there!

The Fringe Media Hears From Us!

Protest the Media: Operation Can You Hear Us Now? Scheduled for October 17, 2009.

Thank you to all you wonderful, freedom-loving, bias-hating citizens across the USA! Many are asking what to call this event. We don’t care WHAT you call it – call it a protest, a march, a tea party if your group is a tea party, call it a rally, call it a project. Call it "citizens mad as hell against the MSM for disguising themselves as news organizations!" Don’t get caught up in the semantics. Just PARTICIPATE if you believe the "Main Stream – Fringe Stream – State Run" media needs to understand just how many citizens and patriots think they have become a CORRUPT institution!

(I wonder how media coverage of the ISLAM ON CAPITAL HILL rally will play out. We’ll just compare it to coverage of 9/12 and see!)

The word is spread far and wide – we’re at "critical mass" stage, just on the verge of going "viral". Unlike H1N1, we’re not the disease – we’re the cure! Yet it remains to be seen how our medicine will affect the sickly press. As you dispense your doses of free speech all around the country, make them say "ahhhhhhh…"

We'll be talking about this, and if we want to participate in this cool campaign! Let us know how you feel.

Here's their "Press Release"

PRESS RELEASE ** (Now Follow OCYHUN on Twitter here!)

Suit has been filed in the Court of Public Opinion by attorneys (protestors) on behalf of the Plantiff (American Public). The presiding judge will be the Honorable Common Sense. • Journalistic Malpractice

  • Complicity, Cover-up and Deceit
  • Partnering with Big Government
  • Reporting of Self-Commissioned polls as "News"
  • Willful Misrepresentation of Facts
  • Loss of all Objectivity

On October 17th, 2009 all witnesses are hereby requested to appear in person in front of each of the "accused" outlets. Bring all supporting evidence, documentation, signage, and be prepared to testify vocally as the Prosecution presents it’s case.

If convicted, a sentencing hearing will be scheduled forthcoming.

Hard to Argue...

From the Mailbag...re: Throw the Bums Out!!
To all 535 voting members of the Legislator.

It is now official: You are morons

The U.S. Post Service was established in 1775 - you have had 234 years to get it right; it is broke.

Social Security was established in 1935 - you have had 74 years to get it right; it is broke.

Fannie Mae was established in 1938 - you have had 71 years to get it right; it is broke..

War on Poverty started in 1964 - you have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor"; it hasn't worked.

Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965 - you've had 44 years to get it right; they're broke

Freddie Mac was established in 1970 - you have had 39 years to get it right; it is broke

Trillions of dollars in the massive political payoff called the TARP bill of 2009 shows NO sign of working.

And finally to set a new record:

"Cash for Clunkers" was established in 2009 and went broke in 2009!

So with a perfect 100% failure rate and a record that proves that "services" you shove down our throats are failing faster and faster, you want Americans to believe you can be trusted with a government-run health care system? 15% of our economy? Are you crazy?

Truly, the inmates are running the asylum! (And what does this say about voters who put such pond scum in office...hmmm? Maybe we need to let others in on this brilliant record before 2010 and just vote against incumbents.)

So once again... it's official, you are ALL morons, I don't care what your political leanings are.

Now it's up to us!

Dear AARP...

This is from a "Senior" friend of mine:
This letter to the AARP says it all. It is a must read regardless of your age. Some people just make sense in what they say. This lady certainly does. Please forward this to everyone on your contact list. It was sent to Mr. Rand, Executive Director of AARP

Dear Mr. Rand,

Recently you sent us a letter encouraging us to renew our lapsed membership in AARP by the requested date. I know it is not what you were looking for, but this is the most honest response I can give you. Our gap in coverage is merely a microscopic symptom of the real problem, a deepening lack of faith..

While we have proudly maintained our membership for several years and have long admired the AARP goals and principles, regrettably, we can no longer endorse it's abdication of our values. Your letter specifically stated that we can count on AARP to speak up for our rights, yet the voice we hear is not ours. Your offer of being kept up to date on important issues through DIVIDED WE FAIL presents neither an impartial view nor the one we have come to embrace. We do believe that when two parties agree all the time on everything presented to them, one is probably not necessary. But, when the opinions and long term goals are diametrically opposed, the divorce is imminent. This is the philosophy which spawned our 200 years of government.

Once upon a time, we looked forward to being part of the senior demographic. We also looked to AARP to provide certain benefits and give our voice a power we could not possibly hope to achieve on our own. AARP gave us a sense of belonging which we no longer enjoy. The Socialist politics practiced by the Obama administration and empowered by AARP serves only to raise the blood pressure my medical insurance strives to contain. Clearly a conflict of interest there!

We do not understand the AARP posture, feel greatly betrayed by the guiding forces whom we expected to map out our senior years and leave your ranks with a great sense of regret. We mitigate that disappointment with the relief of knowing that we are not contributing to the problem anymore by renewing our membership. There are numerous other organizations which offer discounts without threatening our way of life or offending our sensibilities.

This Presidential Administration scares the living daylights out of us. Not just for ourselves, but for our proud and bloodstained heritage, but even more importantly for our children and grandchildren. Washington has rendered Soylent Green a prophetic cautionary tale rather than a nonfiction scare tactic. I have never in my life endorsed any militant or radical groups, yet now I find myself listening to them. I don't have to agree with them to appreciate the fear which birthed their existence. Their borderline insanity presents little more than a balance to the voice of the Socialist mindset in power. Perhaps I became American by a great stroke of luck in some cosmic uterine lottery, but in my adulthood I CHOOSE to embrace it and nurture the freedoms it represents as well as the responsibilities it requires.

Your website generously offers us the opportunity to receive all communication in Spanish. ARE YOU KIDDING??? Someone has broken into our 'house', invaded our home without our invitation or consent. The President has insisted we keep the perpetrator in comfort and learn the perp language so we can communicate our reluctant welcome to them.

I DON'T choose to welcome them.
I DON'T choose to support them..
I DON'T choose to educate them.
I DON'T choose to medicate them, pay for their food or clothing.

American home invaders get arrested. Please explain to me why foreign lawbreakers can enjoy privileges on American soil that Americans do not get?

Why do some immigrants have to play the game to be welcomed and others only have to break & enter to be welcomed?

We travel for a living. Walt hauls horses all over this great country, averaging over 10,000 miles a month when he is out there. He meets more people than a politician on caffeine overdose. Of all the many good folks he enjoyed on this last 10,000 miles, this trip yielded only ONE supporter of the current administration. One of us is out of touch with mainstream America.... Since our poll is conducted without funding, I have more faith in it than one which is power driven.

We have decided to forward this to everyone on our mailing list, and will encourage them to do the same. With several hundred in my address book, I have every faith that the eventual exponential factor will make a credible statement to you..

I am disappointed as hell.
I am scared as hell.
I am MAD as hell, and I'm NOT gonna take it anymore!

Comment Moderation is ON!

I normally like to encourage the easy and instant sharing of ideas, but I've had to turn comment moderation on.

This means that I will review all comments before they are posted.

As you can probably guess, it's because our very own sad little troll, whose pathetic fixation on our blog—while eliciting a certain sympathy for his obvious lack of a life of his own—has become tiresome.

He will, no doubt continue to express his vacuousness for a while, but it will not appear on these pages. His shallow ramblings will drop from his keyboard directly into the trash, poor dear.

All other comments will naturally be posted as a matter of course. When the callow child finally finds a girlfriend and moves on, we'll return to un-moderated comments.

And to our little friend: let me anticipate your furious objections and cries of "Freedom of Speech":

Anonymous, honey, you can't come over to my house and insult me and my guests without consequences. Freedom of Speech is something the government cannot infringe.

In my place, I can do it all day long.

DAY OF REMEMBRANCE - IN MEMORIAM

Never forget. Never forgive.

A Day of No Retreat. A Day of No Surrender.

A Day of Outrage. A Day of Infamy.

A Day of Truth. A Day of Honor. A Day of Courage.

What it is NOT is a Day of "community service", which in Obama's lexicon, means "Community Organizing" which means corrupt and corrupting organizations like ACORN.

We The People have learned the Marxist-Alinsky-Van Jones-Sunstein-Obama lingo.

And we say "NO!"

wtp

ACORN Enables Child Sex Slavery

Do not let this story die. The Slobbering Media is not covering this. But it needs to be brought to the attention to our "leaders" and we need to demand that this corrupt, disgusting organization be called out, prosecuted, exposed, shunned and repudiated by every single lawmaker, up to and including Obama.

We need to make sure than not one penny of taxpayer funds goes to this corrupt and criminal organization. And we need to make sure they are nowhere near the Census.

Do not let your representative rest until they do this. Do not let this outrage be buried by the Left, by the Media (I repeat myself) or the vipers in Washington (oops, did it again!).

ACORN workers in two locations (Baltimore and Washington D.C.) have been recorded and filmed advising people they believed to be a prostitute and pimp to commit tax fraud, and almost unbelievably, enabling them with advise and information, to bring underage illegal alien girls, as young as 14-15 years old into this country to serve as prostitutes in the "low cost" housing this couple is trying to buy with ACORN's help.

BigGovernment.com has the entire story.

Here are the individual posts for videos and transcripts:

Don't let these corrupt criminals get away with pretending that it was just "a couple of rogue employees", as they are no doubt prepared to do; as they ALWAYS do when they are caught red-handed in their perpetual illegal, immoral, corrupt activities.

The two ACORN women on the Baltimore video have allegedly been fired. If so ACORN is hoping no doubt that ends the scandal. (After initially calling this "gotcha" journalism, a smear campaign and defamation...!)

But the second D.C. report, released just today, makes it clear that this is institutional behavior, not disapproved rogue actions of off-the-plantation lone wolves.

Is ACORN using our tax dollars to help tweaks buy houses to set up meth labs in too?

These people have a legal, not to mention moral responsibility to call the police on people they know to be committing crimes...especially trapping children in sex slavery.

How is it possible that in America, an organization that is funded by taxpayers' hard earned money, and stands to get billions more of it as a result of Obama's "stimulus" bill, is an enabler of the sexual slavery of children?

And what kind of people are we and what has our country become if we permit this criminal syndicate, their supporters and their defenders to continue this corruption without consequence?

Options to Socialized Medicine

Here's the Alternative to ObamaCare.

And who'd a thunk it? It's by the co-founder and CEO of Whole Foods Market.
While we clearly need health-care reform, the last thing our country needs is a massive new health-care entitlement that will create hundreds of billions of dollars of new unfunded deficits and move us much closer to a government takeover of our health-care system. Instead, we should be trying to achieve reforms by moving in the opposite direction—toward less government control and more individual empowerment. Here are eight reforms that would greatly lower the cost of health care for everyone:

Moving Soon...

.....to Mexico.

Dear Sr. President, Senate and House of Representatives:

I'm planning to move my family and extended family (18-20 mouths) into Mexico for my health, and I would like to ask you to assist me.

We're planning to simply walk across the border from the U.S. into Mexico , and we'll need your help to make a few arrangements.

We plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws. I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here

So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Calderon, that I'm on my way over? Please le t him know that I will be expecting the following:

1. Free medical care for my entire family.

2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.

3. All Mexico government forms need to also be printed in English.

4. I want my kids to be taught Spanish by English-speaking (bi-lingual) teachers.

5. Schools need to include classes on American culture and history.

6. I want my kids to see the American flag on one of the flag poles at their school.

7. Please plan to feed my kids at school for both breakfast and lunch.

8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services.

9. I do plan to get a car and drive in Mexico , but, I don't plan to purchase car insurance, and I probably won't make any special effort to learn local traffic laws.

10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from their president to leave me alone, please be sure that every patrol car has at least one English-speaking officer.

11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my house top, put U S. flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.

12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, or have any labor or tax laws enforced on any business I may start.

13. Please have the president tell all the Mexican people to be extremely nice and never say a critical things about me or my family, or about the strain we might place on their economy.

I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all his people who come to the U.S. from Mexico . I am sure that President Calderon won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.

Thank you so much for your kind help.

Sincerely, US Citizen & Taxpayer

How To Defeat The Left

HOW TO DEFEAT THE LEFT, by David Horowitz at FrontPage.com
The only way to defeat the left — and I have failed in twenty years of arguing this to persuade conservatives — is to turn the table around and attack their moral self-image. Leftists are in fact the enemies and oppressors of women, children, gays, minorities and the poor, and conservatives should never confront them without reminding them of this fact. If Naomi Wolf and her radical friends had their way, America would be disarmed and radical Islam would be triumphant and women would be back in the Middle Ages, and the rest of us along with them.

The Fall

Charles Krauthammer on Obama, the Mortal
"What happened to President Obama? His wax wings having melted, he is the man who fell to earth. What happened to bring his popularity down further than that of any new president in polling history save Gerald Ford (post-Nixon pardon)?

...in a center-right country, that was problem enough. Obama then compounded it by vastly misreading his mandate. He assumed it was personal. This, after winning by a mere seven points in a year of true economic catastrophe, of an extraordinarily unpopular Republican incumbent, and of a politically weak and unsteady opponent. Nonetheless, Obama imagined that, as Fouad Ajami so brilliantly observed, he had won the kind of banana-republic plebiscite that grants caudillo-like authority to remake everything in one's own image."
Me? I hope his fall is precipitous and permanent...but I don't really expect things to be that easy. Yet just for a moment, it feels good.

California Needs You!

Gov. Schwarzenegger is being pressured more from all sides to sign Senate Bill 572.

SB 572 would pressure every California public school to have an official Harvey Milk Day promoting the homosexual, bisexual, and transsexual agenda to children as young as kindergarten. This legislation is written so broadly that it could allow gay-pride parades on campus, cross-dressing, and homosexual marriage dramas, etc. It's all going to come down to how much pressure California's governor feels. Last year the Democrat-controlled Legislature passed Harvey Milk Gay Day, but Schwarzenegger vetoed it.

This year, Schwarzenegger is being lobbied more heavily by homosexual activists. Sean Penn, who played Harvey Milk on the big screen, and Milk's homosexual activist nephew, have both lobbied Schwarzenegger to ask him to sign SB 572. This year there are four more Democrats in the Assembly voting for Harvey Milk Gay Day. And for the first time Republican Senator Abel Maldonado is supporting this anti-traditional family value bill.

This call will only take about 30 seconds to complete.

Anna Eshoo's Townhall

Please go to Jack's blog, The City Square, for photos of and commentary about Anna Eshoo's town hall meeting.
When I was present, there were no live questions from the audience. All questions were submitted in writing, screened, and read by Rep. Eshoo. Maybe it was just an off-day for her, but it seemed to me that she had a hard time stringing words into sentences, let alone combining sentences into coherent thoughts. Frequently, she would pick a question to read, then read it to the audience, then decide that she had answered it previously, then tell the audience that she was going to skip that question, and then start reading the next question. That she is one of this country's leaders is frightening.
Thanks, Jack, for the info and the great photos.

We The People: No Longer the SILENT Majority!

Matt W sent this in. It's a great review of Jackie Speier's August 29 Townhall:
Hi All,

This morning's Jackie Spier town hall was a big success for sensible people.

It opened with a presentation by Jackie.  She explained that we need health care reform because people with acne, people who have had C-sections and/or people with too good a bill of health are and will continue to be denied because of it.

Per the official and well-known strategy, Ted Kennedy's impeccable (gag) record was attached to this effort as a way to legitimize it - that we should just pass it in his honor.

At first I thought I and a few others would be the only people representing our country and sensibility based on the number of Obama / Spier sign-bearing attendees.  And indeed, at first it appeared only a couple of people were refraining from the Jackie love fest and making contrary comments to her speech.

But someone out in left field (literally, relative to where she was standing on home plate) called her on the fact that the similar government Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid plans are heading to ruin.  It seemed that comment electrified the sensible people.

Before I go on, I just want to say how much I realized how important it is to go to these.  It is a WORLD of difference when there is a critical mass of people together.  Even if you don't ask a question yourself, just your applause helps out people that do.  It was amazing how the event went from me feeling timid and alone to being emboldened and excited when the other anti-health care plan folks stood up.

I was shocked at question time at the ratio of Obama-lytes vs. sensible people.  Pleasantly shocked, that is.  I would say there was 2 pro-Jackie speakers for every 8 anti-Obamacare respondents.

Here's a few things I can remember...

First of all, the audio system was broken most of the time.  I had to cover my ears.  Questions were asked how well the govt can repair my body if they can't make a PA system operate.

0) No one made a comment about the costs of health care induced by illegal alien emergency room visits!  Jackie *did* say that E.R. costs for non-paying people will be just taken care of with this bill, but would not explain how this money magically doesn't still come from us.

1) Of the 3 people that stood up with their stories of denied coverage, 2 (and maybe all 3) were government employees (a former policewoman and a wife of a retired firefighter) and one was a university professor with a dead beat Stanford PhD MD.  It begs the question, if these people can't trust the government promises, how can we?

2) A very articulate senior asked Jackie if she would take forgo her gold-plated congressional plan and instead take the proposed plan first for a time, THEN tell us how great it is before voting on it.  Jackie proudly responded she does not take her plan; she prefers her husband's private industry plan.  She seemed to miss that that statement was not helping her cause.  People cried out that she should take it anyway and she went on to the next questioner with a smirk.

But right then someone behind me said "how many govt contracts does your husband get".  She *froze in her tracks*, leveled a stare at said person, paused seemingly ready to explode, then moved on.  If looks could kill...

3) Someone said, why not let the private industry solve the problem; her answer was that under this plan the insurance companies will THRIVE.

4) A latin senior woman with an eloquently prepared statement describing her democrat voting record asked in a shaking but emphatic voice how we will pay for this plan.  I believe this was answered with the typical "well if Bush didn't spend the money in Iraq we'd still have plenty of money".

5) A fellow right in front of me asked where in the constitution - which he had held in front of him - does it say Americans have a right to health care, much less control of banks, control of private enterprise via 'czars', control of energy, etc.  Jackie said that the constitution says congress can make laws, and this is another law.  And that the financial bailout was done because republican economists told her to.

6) One fellow clearly had her going as he sincerely said how much he wanted single payer health care.  But then he said people are also entitled to houses, gas, jobs, food, etc.  It was enormously amusing to watch how long into his speech he got before her face registered she realized he was being disingenuous.

7) A reform *supporter* asked why tort reform (reducing lawsuit damages to reduce malpractice costs to reduce premiums) was struck from the bill.  She said it was because the democratic party thought was too political and would make it harder to get the bill quickly through.  She also pointed out that CA law limits lawsuits to $250k which has made care cheaper here.  Doesn't seem that cheap to me, but if so I have to acknowledge that as a good thing.

8) Someone from China listed the facts: $11T in US debt today, projected to double by the end of BHO's term, 25% of our debt to China, $1500 per American per year to service the debt, etc.  He asked, how can we ever pay for all this and how can assume China will buy more debt?  No direct answer to the question.

9) In a mini debate behind me, I heard a man agree that health care would be run by "govt thugs" but would prefer that - and would prefer anything - to insurance companies.

10) A young gal with a prepared statement listed facts about other countries with socialized medicine; 3x the breast cancer death rate than the US, 100s of thousands on waiting lists, 40% of tax revenues in Ireland go to health care.  Jackie claimed the person wasn't listening close enough to her answer and just went on.

11) A senior said it was better to do what some countries have done - to just give out the health care and deal with cost containment later.

12) Someone who grew up in the projects and went to public schools (after which had to have his mother teach him to read as they failed) pointed out that Jackie was *not* elected by a majority of voters in her district.  She was elected by a majority of *registered* voters.  The majority of people did not vote at all - but implied that they *will now*.  He also asked how a Catholic can sponsor a bill that pays for abortions; she said it doesn't, folks in the crowd said it still does due to the failure of some amendments (I don't know the truth of this).

13) Someone asked how she can justify the govt intruding into people's lives with certain aspects of the bill - which he called out by page and section.  She said it was just to make sure people making $40k or less are really making that little. Very few people were satisfied with that answer.

14) Due to the microphone outage, one guy had to come forward (as her aides directed) to ask his question - the police almost tackled him not realizing this was not an attack.

15) Jackie and other liberal orgs were handing out literature and forcefully ordering people to register on the way in.  Why can't we have our own registration booth next time?

If I missed your comment I'm sorry!  But again, this really was a success in our almost entirely liberal neighborhood.

Thanks Matt. Wonderfully done! And it's good to know that even in our crazy Liberal area, people are beginning to wake up and take notice that our government is totally out of control, and that we have to TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK!

Obama's War

"WASHINGTON, Aug 31 (Reuters) - Many of President Barack Obama's top advisers on Afghanistan agree with military commanders that more troops are needed to reverse Taliban gains in the country's east and south, U.S. officials said on Monday.

But there is wariness within the White House to another large-scale increase at a time when public support for the eight-year-old war against a resurgent Taliban is eroding, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity."

Cracks in the Facade?

Let's try to make this delay PERMANENT!

"Aug. 31 (Bloomberg) -- The chief Senate sponsors of a bill aimed at curbing global warming have pushed back its introduction from next week until later in September. Barbara Boxerof California and John Kerry of Massachusetts, in an e-mailed statement today, cited Kerry’s hip surgery this month, the death of Senator Edward Kennedy and the debate over health-care legislation as reasons for the delay."

Dems Feeling the Heat

Our efforts bear fruit. The Marxists appear to be on the hot seat, if not on the run. Time to keep up the pressure. Write, call, fax, email. Don't give these guys a moment's peace. Let's make September as miserable for them as August was!

"August, typically a sleepy month, dealt Democrats a tough hand this year.

Snafus in the federal "cash for clunkers" program -- which gave people rebates to trade in gas-guzzling cars for more fuel-efficient new vehicles -- highlighted how disorganization can hamper government plans. It was the bloodiest month for U.S. troops so far in the war in Afghanistan. Attorney General Eric Holder poked a potential hornets' nest by appointing a prosecutor to investigate Central Intelligence Agency interrogators. And White House budget forecasters said they now project $9 trillion of additional federal debt over the next decade, adding $2 trillion to an earlier estimate."

Brownshirts at the Rummage Sale

"If you're planning a garage sale or organizing a church bazaar, you'd best beware: You could be breaking a new federal law. As part of a campaign called Resale Roundup, the federal government is cracking down on the secondhand sales of dangerous and defective products.

The initiative, which targets toys and other products for children, enforces a new provision that makes it a crime to resell anything that's been recalled by its manufacturer.

"Those who resell recalled children's products are not only breaking the law, they are putting children's lives at risk," said Inez Tenenbaum, the recently confirmed chairwoman of the Consumer Product Safety Commission."

Government Works So Well

Auto makers will release their monthly sales reports Tuesday and they're expected to show the first year-to-year increase since 2007. While the Cash for Clunkers program is getting all the credit, local car dealers are still waiting for their cash.

Allow me to make to obvious observation: And we want these guys to run our Health Care?

Not.
